If you don't know about Kiva check out the link here. It is an opportunity to sponsor independent small business that are in need of finacial support to purchase materials, products, etc to grow their business.
You can choose the person you would like to sponsor and then send $25 dollars to sponsor them. They will gradually pay you back and then you can choose someone else to send the $25 to. A women farmer in Cambodia has just repayed me so I sent on the repayment to a women in Peru who sews cloths and knits. She needed the money to buy fabric and yarn. Her annual household income is around $6000. She wants to use her business to better the future of her three children.
